Victoria Walls: What you would recommend to others coming to Junkanoo

There are several things that I would recommend to people that are attending Junkanoo, especially for the first time. The first is to be excited. Junkanoo is a unique festival to attend, between the live music, large costumes, and people cheering and dancing the only way to enjoy that is to simply have fun. The second is in addition to having fun is to take away something about the Bahamian culture that you did not know prior to visiting the Bahamas. Learning about the Junkanoo and its history is very important and adds value to Junkanoo. After reading about the Junkanoo history I think that I was able to appreciate what Junkanoo meant to Bahamians. Lastly I would recommend that you try to stay for as long as possible at the festival. It is amazing to see the consistent energy last until 8 in the morning. A combination of these three components will allow you to have the best Junkanoo experience.
